Welcome to Urbandale, a town of roughly 40,000 people! Although that seems like a large number, Urbandale has many separate neighborhoods for the small town feeling. But it’s location offers quick access to major streets like Douglas Avenue, Hickman Road, and I-35. Urbandale is located in Polk County and is a neighboring city of Johnston, Grimes, Des Moines, and West Des Moines. With so many surrounding cities, Urbandale is served by many different school districts. The north half of the Colby Woods neighborhood is served by the Urbandale Community School District, while the south half is served by the West Des Moines Community School District.
The Colby Woods neighborhood is just off Douglas Avenue and 86th Street but still maintains that secluded feeling. The members of the community enjoy the safe and family friendly environment the neighborhood has to offer. There are many parks in Urbandale such as Walker-Johnson Park, Charles Gabus Memorial Tree Park and Garden, as well as Colby Woods Park. The Colby Woods bike trail that runs through Urbandale, Clive, Windsor Heights, and West Des Moines is also easily accessible! There is something for everyone to enjoy here and ages range from all over making it a great fit for anyone!
Colby Woods is a well known neighborhood in Urbandale and has quick access to many areas with a popular point of interest around the metropolitan area. Merle Hay Mall is close by and the heart of Des Moines is right down the road. Other activities include Living History Farms, Buccaneer hockey arena, and many family fun places to enjoy.
