Panora is a progressive rural community located 30 minutes west of Des Moines. This town sits along the banks of the middle Raccoon River. Panora is part of Guthrie county with home to over 1100 residents.
Panora is known for its small town charm and recreational amenities. Living here you have quick access to the Raccoon River Valley Trail, the Guthrie County Historical Village, and Lenon Mill park amongst other parks. Panora is also home to the beautiful Lake Panorama where you can swim, canoe, and even camp. Other activities the residents enjoy include the farmers market, visiting the local museum, or hunting. Dining and shopping is not a problem in this small town either. Get ready to indulge in favorites such as PJ’s Drive in, a local diner, and Owl’s Nest, an American pub. Shopping can be done at local spots such as Hometown Foods and Bella Sorella Boutique.
Panora is part of the Panorama school district which you will find on the west side of town. This school district also serves other surrounding towns such as Bagley, Yale, Linden, and Jamaica. Panorama schools serves about 800 children in grades K-12. Schooling here is enjoyable because of the small classroom sizes and individual attention each student receives.
